Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:PLTR) stock surged in premarket trading on Monday, extending Friday’s gains as the software sector remains volatile.

Market Context

The stock rebounded Friday, closing up 4.53% at $135.90 after sliding 6.83% the previous day, as broader market recovery signals emerged across major indices.

Wedbush analyst Dan Ives told Bloomberg on Thursday that Wall Street is experiencing an unprecedented software selloff, calling it “unlike anything” he’s seen in 25 years. The market is punishing companies like Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM), ServiceNow Inc. (NYSE:NOW) and Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) “as if they are no longer relevant in the AI age,” Ives said.

Technical Analysis

Palantir is currently trading approximately 14.7% below its 20-day simple moving average (SMA) and 21.9% below its 100-day SMA, indicating a bearish short-term trend. Over the past 12 months, shares have increased by 16.5%, and they are positioned closer to their 52-week highs than lows, reflecting a relatively strong long-term performance.

The RSI is at 32.26, which is considered neutral territory, while the MACD is below its signal line, indicating bearish pressure on the stock. The combination of neutral RSI and bearish MACD suggests mixed momentum, indicating that traders should remain cautious.
